Walter Sabatini discusses Mourinho’s inconsistencies with Roma

Andy Mattioli

Former Roma sporting director touched upon Jose Mourinho’s inconsistent Roma side during the course of this season following a league roller-coaster which saw the Giallorossi win with Juventus and lose with Sassuolo and Lazio in the span of two weeks.

“Mourinho is pragmatic. I don’t love his football, but he manages to bend the team to his project. You know perfectly well what kind of match Roma will play, always,” Sabatini told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Sunday’s derby, mostly played in 10 players, would have finished 0-0 without the playmaking of Anderson and Zaccagni. If he finishes fourth, he will have accomplished a feat: he doesn’t have the necessary roster to do it, and struggles in many departments. Dybala is the only true phenomenon.”
