Walter Sabatini praises Roma’s performance with Empoli, discusses Totti’s potential return

Former Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini shared his views on Roma’s emphatic 7-0 victory over Empoli.

In an interview with calciomercato.it, the Italian executive acknowledged Roma’s performance and discussed the rumors of Francesco Totti’s potential return to the capital club.

“Paredes is getting back his rhythm. On Sunday I saw the Paredes of old, the Paredes I know and love because he knows how to verticalize like few others.”

“Roma were excellent, the team was strengthened by the presence of Lukaku and Dybala. They found lots of space up front, attacking the area with strength and depth. Roma must be considered contenders for the Champions League qualification.”

“Totti? He is certainly a reference for Roma, but he must have an operational role. He cannot be brought in as an ornament. He must act as a sort of sporting director, even if there is Tiago Pinto who has improved a lot. I can see Totti embrace a role like, perhaps as an advisor.”
