Walter Sabatini praises Roma’s signing Romelu Lukaku

Former Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini paid his compliments to the club for securing an elite striker in Romelu Lukaku.

With the Belgian attacker set to land in Rome later this afternoon, Sabatini discussed the player’s potential impact on Jose Mourinho’s squad and how his arrival may influence Roma’s objectives for the season.

“It’s a huge signing, no doubt about that,” Sabatini told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Lukaku is a player who, when he’s doing well, can play on his own. He can lead the line all on his own.”

“Him with Dybala, then, could be extraordinary on paper because they integrate well in terms of quality.”

“Certainly with Lukaku the possibilities of seeing this team qualify to the Champions League increase dramatically, even if there is no shortage of competition,” added Sabatini. “Now Mourinho will not have anymore excuses: Roma must compete for the top positions.”
