Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie recently gave an in-depth interview about his beginnings in Texas, his time in Germany and Juventus, as well as his childhood favourite – Roma legend Francesco Totti.
“My idol? Francesco Totti,” McKennie told Kwik Sports after completing training with USA’s national team in Doha.
“Totti was my favourite player as a kid, but I never tried to emulate him. I just try to be myself, the kind of footballer I am. I had favourite footballers but I didn’t watch so much sport.”
“I had a physiotherapist who worked with Roma and he helped me realise my dream of an autographed shirt, Totti once came to Juve and brought it to me and I couldn’t believe it.”
