Roma midfielder Gini Wijnaldum is impatiently waiting to return to the pitch over three months after suffering a fractured tibia in training.
Roma were dealt a huge blow to start the new season after one of their top summer signings went down with a serious injury in the campaign’s opening stages.
The initial prognosis established a timeline of recovery of around 3-4 months.
Over three months later, Wijnaldum is getting ready to travel with Roma to Portugal for their second mid-season training camp. The Dutch footballer will not take part in group training activities but Mourinho wants to integrate him with the rest of the team nonetheless.
According to Il Tempo, the Dutch midfielder is nearing full recovery and is expected to make his highly anticipated return among Roma’s call-ups in mid-January.
