Paulo Dybala’s status for the upcoming Derby della Capitale as well as the 2022 World Cupp in Qatar is still clouded in mystery.

The Argentinian star was injured earlier this month after scoring the winning penalty in Roma’s 2-1 victory against Lecce. Almost immediately after scoring, he pulled up limp and had to be replaced for the remainder of the match.

Dybala has a lengthy injury history of injuries but this one could potentially be the most impactful of his career given the 2022 World Cup begins on November 20th with the final scheduled for December 18th.

After undergoing medicals scans which revealed a strained quadriceps, the timeline regarding Dybala’s return has been shrouded in questions marks. Roma initially ruled him out until the new year but there’s been whispers he could recover earlier than expected.

In fact, member’s of Argentina’s medical staff recently traveled to the Italian capital to monitor the attacker’s recovery process in the hopes of having him available next month.

Though, if you believe that Dybala can be fit again to take part in Qatar then you can place your wager on this new Cyprus sports betting website, in2bet. The online platform provides you with access to multiple football markets, offering numerous ways to possibly increase your overall winnings.

Dybala’s injury impact on AS Roma

After the expiration of his contract with Juventus in the summer of 2022, Dybala shocked the footballing landscape after he decided to join Roma on a free transfer.

La Joya penned a three-year deal with the Giallorossi and was immediately given a hero’s welcome by the club’s fanbase. His impact on the pitch was almost just as quick: the attacker tallied 7 goals and 2 assist in 11 matches before he suffered the injury earlier this month.

Roma’s attack has struggled mightily without the presence of Dybala, scoring a total of 3 goals in the 3 matches they’ve played without him.

Although their record of 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss during this stretch isn’t bad—the lack of goal production from the likes of Nicolo Zaniolo, Tammy Abraham, and Lorenzo Pellegrini has crippled the capital club’s attack.

Dybala’s injury impact on Argentina

The narrative is a little bit different when talking about Argentina’s national squad. Dybala has battled through a number of ailments over the course of his career, and as a result, manager Lionel Scaloni has not relied on him much recently.

In his more than seven years playing for Argentina, Dybala has appeared in just 34 matches whilst scoring 3 goals. This past year he’s made only 1 start for La Albiceleste while coming on as a substitute in 5 others, scoring just once—his lone goal coming versus Italy in the CONMEBOL–UEFA Cup of Champions final.

His absence would certainly impact Argentina’s depth entering the tournament, particularly given his ability to play in multiple attacking roles. However, Scaloni has already proven he’s more than willing to utilise others in Dybala’s place.

The team has an abundance of attacking talent behind stars Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez, and Angel Di Maria including Giovanni Simeone and Julian Alvarez.

As a result, the impact of Dybala’s injury on Argentina is unlikely to have the same affect as its had on Roma.
