RomaPress – Roma are looking to make two more acquisitions before the close of the transfer window tomorrow.
The first is the never-ending story involving Chris Smalling. The Giallorossi are doing all they can to acquire the Englishman and there is hope within the club that they will be able to find an agreement today with Manchester United.
The second acquisition Roma hopes to make is for an attacker.
With departure of the Justin Kluivert to RB Leipzig – the player will arrive in Germany today – one option that Roma are seriously considering is the return of attacker Stephan El Shaarawy on loan.
The Italian and his parent club, Shanghai Shenhua, reached an agreement earlier this summer to allow him to return to Europe until January ahead of next summer’s Euro 2021 competition. El Shaarawy wants to ensure his place in Roberto Mancini’s squad by playing in a more competitive league ahead of the tournament.
El Shaarawy is already in Italy and has been training in the Italian capital throughout recent weeks.
The former Milan man and his brother-agent, Manuel, have been pushing for the return of the attacker to the Italian capital throughout the past weeks — something that wasn’t an option due to the presence of Cengiz Ünder and, until today, Justin Kluivert.
With the exits of both Ünder and Kluivert — a reunion with El Shaarawy is a concrete option being considered by Roma in these final hours of the transfer window.
