Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso sounded hopeful to recover defender Jonathan Tah for the first leg of the Europa League semifinals with Roma.

Tah was recently injured in Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with Stuttgart. The centreback was forced to come off at halftime.

His condition does not seem to cause great concern, as also stated by the Spanish coach himself in the press conference following the draw.

“The first tests were not bad,” said Alonso. “Which is why we remain optimistic for Thursday. Naturally, we did not want to take any risks, so we decided to do a change at half-time. Let’s hope he can be with us in Rome on Thursday.”
