Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso previewed tomorrow night’s rematch with Roma in the return leg of the Europa League semi-final.
The Spanish technician touched upon the sense of urgency that his side will need to play with in order to overturn the result from the first leg in Rome.
“The first leg was a hard fought battle,” Alonso told reporters during his pre-match presser. “We expect it to be the same tomorrow evening.”
“I feel the positive energy and the mood of the team, we will give everything until the last second because we have a chance to get to the final. The players now know Roma better and also their respective opponents in their roles.”
“The experience of the first leg will help us, it takes a mix of intensity, passion and good defence. Roma are strong, but if we do our best at home with our fans, we can do it.”
