Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso spoke to reporters during today’s pre-match presser ahead of the upcoming second leg of the EL semi’s with Roma.

The Spanish technician urged his side to remain cautious despite a two-goal advantage.

“The second game is always dangerous. One goal can quickly change the situation and influence everything else, even if we go into the second leg with a two-goal advantage. We have to be focused from the start,” said Alonso.

“Tomorrow will be a top match, with a top atmosphere. It’s the semi-final of the Europa League, it will be a spectacle. I still remember the welcome from the fans on Bismarckstrasse last year, it was incredible.”

“We have not forgotten the pain of last year caused by the elimination with Roma. We have to use this energy to be able to celebrate with the fans at the end of tomorrow’s match.”
