Zabaleta and Roma: a deal is close, the details

John Solano

RomaPress has learned a deal for Manchester City right-back Pablo Zabaleta is very close.

To begin, Roma and City have been in talks for nearly two months for the player. The Argentine knew that once Pep Guardiola was confirmed, his time at the club was effectively over.

During initial talks, Zabaleta was hesitant at according the proposal from Roma. The Giallorossi offered him a contract nearly identical to that of Douglas Maicon when he moved from the English club: a two year contract with an option for a third with wages set at €2.5-€3 million net.

Zabaleta has now given his blessing to the operation and has accepted Roma’s offer. Roma must now find a deal with City, which shouldn’t be an issue. City have asked €5 million for the player while Roma offer €2.5 million: the gap will undoubtedly be closed since the two clubs are on very amicable terms.
