Echoing the sentiments of manager José Mourinho, Roma’s Nicola Zalewski criticised Bodø/Glimt’s pitch following their 2-1 defeat against the Norwegians this evening.

Before the match, the Giallorossi lamented having to play on the artificial playing surface, which played a part in defender Gianluca Mancini’s second half knee injury.

“There’s huge regret from this evening, we were in control,” Zalewski said on Roma TV.

“But we have seven days until the return leg. So let’s say that this match is like halftime and they’re leading 2-1. Obviously we’re going to give everything we’ve got next week.”

“I thought we were well prepared but the small episodes make the difference. We’ll do our best to advance to the semi-final.”

Finally, “Though, the thing we need next week besides our supporters is a decent playing surface. That’s what we need: a good pitch unlike the one we played on tonight.”

“It’s an absolute tragedy that a quarterfinal in a European cup competition can be played on a plastic pitch like the one tonight.”
