Despite earlier reports of an initial agreement regarding the player’s contract extension, Nicolò Zaniolo briefly discussed the links with other teams ahead of the transfer window and a potential farewell to the capital.
“After the goal against Trabzonspor I told myself, ‘Finally you’re back to playing real football,'” he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “The return game with Bodo was the perfect match.”
When asked about interest of other clubs such as Milan and Juventus, Zaniolo replied, “The interest of top clubs pleases me, because if they think of you it means that you are worth it.”
“And it does not distract me or make me lose my head. On the contrary: I train with even more motivation because I want to show that it’s not a mistake for me to be associated with those top clubs.”
Then, the 22-year-old briefly commented the possibility of leaving Roma: “If that were to happen, I would miss so many people. Not only [Tammy] Abraham.”
On comparisons with Paulo Dybala: “It also seems excessive to me to be compared to him. He is unique, a fantastic player, very strong. Let’s see. Life is unpredictable, you never know what happens. In the meantime I train. And I wait.”
