Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo was particularly grateful for Mourinho’s confidence in him which inspired the 23-year-old to lead the Giallorossi over Ludogorets in last night’s crucial victory at the Stadio Olimpico.
Zaniolo discussed Mourinho’s impact on him in a post-match interview with UEFA.
“He asked to come off the bench and help break open the game,” said the young forward. “Fortunately I was able to do so.”
“I have to thank Mourinho because he’s always believed in me even in my lesser moments, and today I showed that I can be important for the team,” he added.
On his preferred opponent in the Europa League knockout round, Zaniolo said, “We don’t fear anyone. We’re strong and we’re focused on ourselves, not our opponents.”
