Zaniolo to be fined for gesture vs Lazio

Nicolo Zaniolo’s provocative gesture toward the Curva Nord as a response to insults aimed at him and his family has sparked a discussion within the Lega Serie A.

Roma are now awaiting a verdict by the sports judge, following a series of investigations into the controversial episode.

According to Il Tempo, it seems unlikely that the player could face match suspension, mostly because it is unlikely that the team of referees present at the Olimpico saw the gesture live on Sunday night.

However, Zaniolo is expected to be fined by the Lega.

Moreover, Roma could face sanctions for playing the club anthem after the Serie A anthem in the match against Udinese. The league rules state that the club anthem must be played before the official league anthem.
