Zaniolo to play behind the strikers against Genoa

Given Lorenzo Pellegrini’s persisting knee inflammation, Nicolo Zaniolo could slot in and play a key role in Roma’s starting eleven in Sunday’s fixture vs Genoa.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the 22-year-old is likely to switch positions and move more centrally behind the strikers. Zaniolo is expected to play as a trequartista against Shevchenko’s men.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan is likely to get dropped from the starting line-up, with El Sharaawy replacing him on the left wing.

Moreover, Eldor Shomurodov could have his second consecutive start after a convincing performance vs Venezia (one goal and one assist to his name). The Uzbekistan international is expected to play alongside Tammy Abraham.

It remains to be seen whether Mourinho will settle for a 3-4-1-2 formation or a 4-2-3-1 with Ibanez filling in as left-back.
