Nicolo Zaniolo will undergo surgery on Monday to repair the torn ACL ligament in his left knee, which he ruptured earlier this week in Italy’s Nations League match against the Netherlands.
The young attacker, though, will not undergo the procedure in Italy at Rome’s Villa Stuart Hospital. Sky Sport has reported that the Giallorossi’s starlet has opted to have the operation done abroad in Innsbruck, Austria by Professor Christian Fink.
The Austrian doctor has already performed the procedure recently on Juve defenders Giorgio Chiellini and Merih Demiral, both of whom suffered torn ACL’s within the last year.
Zaniolo will fly to Austria on Sunday ahead of Monday’s procedure, after which he will begin a course of rehabilitation.
