Nicolo Zaniolo was only 18 minutes on the snowy pitch in Bulgaria before going down with an injury, forcing Mourinho to replace him. The 22-year-old had indicated pain to the abductor muscle in his right thigh.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Zaniolo will undergo further tests today at Trigoria to determine the extent of the injury.
The youngster is already suspended for Spezia-Roma and thus would not have been at Mourinho’s disposal either way for this upcoming weekend. Roma, in the best of cases, hope to have Zaniolo back for Roma-Atalanta on December 18th.
However, if the tests reveal damage to the muscle, the Giallorossi will not risk their young star player before the end of this year.
