RomaPress – Nicolo Zaniolo will not feature for Roma this season as he continues to recover from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Zaniolo suffered the injury in early September while on national team duty with Roberto Mancini’s Gli Azzurri, his second ruptured ACL of 2020.
After undergoing surgery in Austria, Roma initially believed that he could return in April, though, they insisted they would not rush his recovery process.
Following months of physical therapy, Zaniolo returned to individual training in March and took part in a handful of training sessions with Roma’s Primavera side, aiming to return to the first team by late April.
Now, however, the Giallorossi have changed course and will keep Zaniolo shelved for the remainder of the season, giving him additional time to recover.
Furthermore, Roma informed the media that Zaniolo is undergoing physical tests today at Trigoria ahead of a follow-up consultation with Prof. Christian Fink in Austria.
