Zaniolo’s return could be pushed to next season

Roma are leaning towards holding Nicolo Zaniolo for the remainder of the season as he continues his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

The starlet was poised to return within the next two weeks from the injury that he suffered in early September. However, Sky Sport reports that the Giallorossi may opt to keep him on the shelf given that there is nothing left to play for in the season. In addition, the club wants to ensure he is fully fit before making his return from a second torn ACL.

Zaniolo was hoping to recover in time for this summer’s Euro competition, however, that appears nearly impossible now given the lack of time. Although it may come as a blow, the youngster has insisted throughout his recovery process that he will not take any short cuts, taking all the time he needs.
