Ex-Roma and Lazio manager Zdenek Zeman weighed in on the recent managerial appointments of his two former employers.

After the Giallorossi unveiled José Mourinho as the club’s new manager early last month, Lazio announced yesterday that former Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri, would be taking over at the club following Simone Inzaghi’s departure for Inter.

The 74 year-old admitted that he likes both managers, though, his words suggest that he slightly prefers Roma’s appointment of ‘The Special One’.

“Sarri is a very good manager who enjoys playing good football and entertaining the supporters,” he said to Leggo.

“He won a Scudetto at Juve but even before that he did well and achieved great things at Napoli.”

“Mourinho, though, is a huge name and an attraction – one that I hope will reawaken an incredible environment that never sleeps. The supporters are expecting a lot from him.”

Finally, “Who’s the favorite between the two? Right now, I’d say Roma, but the pitch will have the final say. However, I do hope the Roman clubs manage to contend with all of the competitive clubs up North.”
