Diego Tavano, the agent of Roma midfielder Edoardo Bove, detailed the negotiations that led to the youngster penning a new contract.

Following months of negotiations, the Giallorossi announced earlier today the 21 year-old signed a new deal that will keep him with his boyhood club until June 2028.

“This was a fairly long negotiation, we had most of the framework in place by September and there was never any doubt his desire was tie himself to Roma,” Tavano told Centro Suono Sport.

“Every time he plays he wants to fight and honor Roma until the very last drop of sweat. This is a beautiful story that’s worth appreciating.”

He continued, “He was attractive to many (clubs) but his desire was firm from the very start: he wants to play for this (Roma) shirt. For me, the economics only matter up to a certain point, the more important part is staying alongside these young players and helping them grow and support them in tough times.”

“Edoardo wasn’t originally in Mourinho’s list during his first preseason. This prompted Tiago Pinto and I to meet and he was very decisive in listening to me when I insisted he could have an important player in his hands.”

He continued, “I thank Mourinho, too, because he saw something in the lad and helped him grow by giving him confidence. He (Edoardo) is one of the most interesting youngsters at a European level who still has room for growth.”

“There’s no (buyout) clauses in his contract, whoever wants him in the future will have to talk to Roma because this is the club that raised him and gave him all the tools to grow.”
