Official: Mkhitaryan renews Roma contract

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has officially put pen to paper on a new contract that will see him remain with Roma.

The Giallorossi announced on their official website this afternoon that the attacker has extended his contract with the club until 30 June 2022.

The news comes less than 24-hours after Mkhitaryan’s representatives re-ignited contact with Roma in order to find a definitive agreement on a new contract.

“Over the last two years at Roma I’ve fallen in love, both with the club and the city, thanks in large part to the incredible passion of the fans,” Mkhitaryan said.

“The club’s ambitions are very high and I am proud to have the chance to play my part as we take on all the challenges that await us next season. Daje Roma!”

Mkhitaryan’s previous deal included an option that allowed him to accept or reject any contract renewal offer. The two sides agreed to reach a decision before the end of the May as Roma were pushing to keep him in the Italian capital.

“We are very pleased that Henrikh has decided to continue his adventure with Roma,” said Tiago Pinto, the club’s General Director.

“As he has already shown with his performances on the pitch, his quality will be very important in helping the team reach their targets next season.”
